Sudan protesters: Execute teacher

Hundreds of angry protesters, some waving ceremonial swords from trucks equipped with loud speakers, gathered  Friday outside the presidential palace to denounce a teacher whose class named a teddy bear "Mohammed" -- some calling for her execution.

Gillian Gibbons, 54, was given 15 days in jail late Thursday after she was convicted of insulting religion. Family, Friends, Teammates Mourn Taylor

Pedro Taylor stood outside his Miami-Dade County home and spoke of the person who killed his son, Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor. "I think one day he'll come to grips with himself and say, 'You know what, it was senseless' and he'll turn himself in," said Taylor's father, the Florida City police chief. Family, friends, teammates and the football community across the country mourned the loss of Taylor, the 24-year-old who died early Tuesday of a gunshot wound from an apparent intruder. "He will truly be missed by all of us," Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell said at Redskins Park in Ashburn, Va. "I'll hold him close to our hearts. It's just a tough situation right now, and ..." Celebs Serve Holiday Meals to Homeless

Kirk Douglas, Harrison Ford and other celebrities shared the Thanksgiving spirit Wednesday by serving hot meals to homeless people on Skid Row. Wearing red aprons and plastic gloves, they stood alongside volunteers at the annual feast at downtown's Los Angeles Mission, doling out turkey drumsticks, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, vegetables and pumpkin pie. Actresses Nia Long and Calista Flockhart and "The Hills" reality TV star Spencer Pratt were among others passing out almost 3,000 plates of food to lines of men, women and children.

Documents: Mom Describes Killing Girl, 2

A woman believed to be the mother of a 2-year-old whose body was found in Galveston Bay told police she and the girl's stepfather beat and tortured the child to death, court documents show. The details in an arrest affidavit paint a chilling picture of the last days of the girl investigators called "Baby Grace" as they worked for weeks to learn her identity. Investigators are awaiting DNA test results but said Monday they are "fairly confident" that the body a fisherman found in a plastic box Oct. 29 is that of Riley Ann Sawyers. Her mother, Kimberly Dawn Trenor, and stepfather, Royce Clyde Zeigler II, were arrested early Saturday and are in custody on charges of hurting the girl. "It was a few weeks ago I held up this little shoe and asked, 'Who is Baby Grace? Who does this belong to?'" sheriff's Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo said at a news conference. Redskins' Taylor Dies Day After Shooting

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor died early Tuesday, a day after the Pro Bowl player was shot at home by what police say was an intruder. He was 24. Family friend Richard Sharpstein said Taylor's father told him the news around 5:30 a.m. "His father called and said he was with Christ and he cried and thanked me," said Sharpstein, Taylor's former lawyer. "It's a tremendously sad and unnecessary event. He was a wonderful, humble, talented young man, and had a huge life in front of him. Obviously God had other plans." Redskins safety Sean Taylor shot in Florida, in critical condition

Washington Redskins star safety Sean Taylor was in critical condition Monday after he was shot during what police are investigating as a possible armed robbery at his home. The 24-year-old player was in the intensive care unit following several hours of surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, said family friend Richard Sharpstein, his former lawyer. Taylor lost a "significant" amount of blood because the bullet damaged his femoral artery, and doctors are worried about blood flow to the brain, added Sharpstein, who was at the hospital with the player's family and friends. Vick to Spend Thanksgiving in Va. Jail

The Northern Neck Regional Jail doesn't have the comforts of Michael Vick's Georgia mansion, but at least the disgraced quarterback will get to enjoy a hot turkey dinner this Thanksgiving. And, perhaps, a non-contact visit with a loved one. Vick unexpectedly turned himself in Monday and will be housed at the jail until his sentencing on a federal dogfighting charge in three weeks. He faces up to five years in prison. Jail officials wouldn't discuss their new celebrity inmate, but a peek inside the facility provided a glimpse of what life for the Atlanta Falcons quarterback will be like in the coming days.
